Warning! Don’t Customize Your WordPress Theme Until You Know How To Create A Child Theme
Before you start customizing the WordPress theme you have installed, watch this video first! I promise you it will save you time, headaches and frustration. The theme you installed may one day have an update and like a good guy or gal you decide to click that update button… Only to discover that you lost all the customization after the update. Great, now you are pulling your hair out and sweating like a pig. All is probably lost and you’ll have to start over from scratch. The solution to this problem is to first create a child theme off of the original WordPress theme. This child theme inherits all the pieces of functionally coding from the original theme which is now consider it’s parent. It has it’s own separate files store in its own folder. Now you can customize the heck out of it and it won’t be touched whenever a updated is performed on the parent theme. A cool plugin will create this child theme for you. Enjoy!
Well, did you learn a lot from the video? I honestly hope so!
I oughtta say hello. This is Edward Lee, the creator of this site, and I assembled this ever-growing resource in an effort to share some WordPress Themes vids with my readers. That’s honestly my mission with this video site. 🙂
Well, perhaps that isn’t the only reason for my doing this…
Look, before we do anything else, there just so happens to be something I want to get off my chest. Honestly, my own selfish needs are really what led to the creation of this site. You see, I tend to “crack out” on videos on the topic of WordPress Themes (like the How to Create A Child Theme And Avoid The Dangers of WordPress Theme Updates… vid you just finished watching), and I honestly just wanted a place where I could re-watch all of my favorites under one roof.
I also believe that opportunity abounds online, which is another motivating factor in my decision to create this site. I’m just being honest.
I don’t see anything wrong with earning a little money from sponsorships and WordPress Themes product recommendations. I hope you don’t either.
As you can likely tell, I’m not one to pull punches. But please hear me… I’m not here to sell anything. If anything from any of my sponsors interests you, that would be an awesome bonus! But if that’s not the case, I’ll still like ya. You just being here is good enough for me. 🙂
I’m just cool with watching and sharing WordPress Themes with like-minded people! 😉
So that’s why Web Tech Brains exists. It’s basically a place where you can access tons of WordPress Themes videos all under one roof. Sound good? Great! It’d be great to have you over again some time. 😉
